I have always seen friends posting their cooking or baking session with ABC Singapore but never give much of a thought.
Moving to Hong Kong as a housewife has made me realised I have limited recipes because I only know Asian food. Growing up, I followed my mom around while she cooks. Chinese food comes easy for me but I wanted explore with some guidance.
Below are some of the dishes that comes easy for me.
Shogayaki (Japanese), Gado-Gado (Indonesian), Stirred fried noodles (Chinese) & Genovese egg pasta with scallops bacon (Italian)
Japanese are particular about their food. They really know how to make everything look good and also eat healthy. I realised my culture loves deep fried food excessively and chilli makes it better. However, it should not be consumed on a daily basis.
Anyway, ex-colleague mentioned to me about ABC Cooking Studio. Did a quick check and one of the outlets is walking distance from where I am staying.

Signed up for the trial class at HKD 200 (SGD 36). Usual price is HKD 280 but if you like their Facebook page, you get HKD 80 off.
They have the regular trial class (from Jan – Dec) & seasonal trial class (bi-monthly)

I decided to take the seasonal trial class (Handmade Egg Benedict)

My final product
It was a great experience to make muffins from scratch. I was surprised by how tasty muffins could be.
I was very lucky to be the only student attending the trial class. I have undivided attention. Not really because the teacher was busy talking to another colleague at one point. She was away for 6 minutes… Anyway, I let it pass. Saw some mixed Facebook reviews so I guess it depends on the teacher. I just thought it is basic manner to pay more attention while teaching…
Anyway, she taught me how to knead the bread dough correctly.
Soon after the class, I signed up for the minimum of 12 lessons cooking course at
HKD 6, 000 (SGD 1, 077) and valid for 12 months. The teacher wanted me to sign up for 24 classes instead because there will be a price increase next month.
Anyway, I like the cooking studio

I guess I will post more Japanese cooking. Since the recipes are given by the school, not so sure if I can share them online. I will post pictures and hopefully to share my recipes of my own in future.
I will also review my classes and the teachers.
If you are interested, you can visit their website for more information.
Below is the price list (as of April 2018)
Till then…
the baking courses at ABC in singapore are really good. I’m guessing it could be quite similar class offering in HK as well. Tastes like breadtalk 🙂
