For the past few months, people have been telling me I look young. I am not sure which factors they based on. I am in my early 30’s while they thought I was in my mid 20’s.
They, I meant asians. I can understand why westerners would have a hard time figuring out our age but asians?
The only thing I can think of is I started having collagen drink at the age of 23. An ex-colleague introduced me and I started to take Meiji collagen premium (For 40 years and above). It is neither cheap nor tasty. A tin (last 30 days) would cost about SGD 90 without any promotion. Of course, I would only get them on promotion.
History of Meiji Collagen
There has been arguments saying that drinking collagen does not work as it cannot be absorb into your body. While there has been another argument saying once you drink collagen, it tricks your body into thinking your body is damaged and will create collagen to heal.
Honestly, I feel it does make a difference. During my 3 months of traveling, I stopped taking collagen because it is ridiculous to bring 3 tins during traveling. I am too lazy.
I did not notice much until I start taking collagen again when I reached Hong Kong. After 3 days, I felt the skin on my face feels much tighter, plumper and glowing. I even asked my husband if he notice the difference and he did. I will continue to keep drinking.
Recently, there has been a change in the formula and packaging (smaller size as the consumption reduced from 7g to 3g).
How to consume Meiji Collagen
Of course, staying healthy is the best way to age gracefully. I do believe exercising, having sufficient sleep and good work-life balance would be the most effective way.
If you are interested, check out their Japanese website (in both English and Chinese). There is a good range of products from tablets to powder form, to liquid drink. Depends on your preference but I prefer the powder since Meiji started out with powdered collagen.
It is available in Asia but recently I get my supply when I returned to Japan. I could not remember the price but it was about SGD 45.
I will try to take a picture of before and after taking Meiji collagen soon.
Till then…
