I have been counting down to Fei Fei’s wedding. I am so honored to be one of her bridesmaid. It was also my first time to mainland China.
Took Silkair to Chengdu. Clear blue sky.
Silkair felt like low cost carrier. Food was too salty.
There was suppose to have online entertainment but I couldn’t seem to connect so I slept instead… Woke up to this view. Not sure where is this though.
After 5 hours, I finally reached Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport. Immigration was pretty fast on a friday evening. Headed to take a cab to meet my BFF for dinner. Cab fare was pretty reasonable. 40 minutes ride was about RMB 65 (SGD 13.60).
I also met Fei Fei’s parents & relatives. They were very welcoming. After dinner, we headed to Fei Fei’s house to decorate the place with balloons, preparing for the following day’s gate crash. It is kind of fetching the bride. The groom has to go through a few “challenges” with the help of his best man & groomsmen.
In Singapore, Chinese wedding do have gate crash too. However, Chengdu has this hiding shoes where the groom has to search for it.
Anyway, only managed to finish the decoration at about 11pm. Headed to St Regis for check-in.
The next morning, left the hotel before 7am to Fei Fei’s house
On the day of the gate crash, groom has to give enough red packets for the bridesmaid to open the door. Usually, the red packets are passed through the gap at the bottom of the door. However, Fei Fei’s room door has no gap for the groom to slip the red packets.
We had to open the door to get the red packets. The groom, best man and groomsmen pushed so hard and broke the door when the door was opened. The men were very strong.
Secondly, the groom and the guys searched for the shoes. They found it within 2 minutes. Afterwards, we went to a park to take pictures.

The setup stage
The bride and groom would stand outside to welcome the guests. They would serve guests with cigarettes and candies. The role of the bridesmaid and best man was to hold the tray of cigarettes and candies.
The host
In China, the culture is to serve abundance food to treat guests well. Usually in Singapore, the wedding dinner would serve a 8 course meal. In Chengdu, the more the merrier. I lost count because the food kept coming. Might have been more than 16 dishes. I stopped taking pictures after a while. Food are served even before the wedding starts.

Even though it was a short trip of 3 days to Chengdu, I had a great time. Hope to be back again to visit.
