Replacing the japanese luggage

How time flies, and the trusty luggage that travelled with me for the past 9 years is ready to “retire”. Apparently, my luggage review has the most views.

Japanese products are known for quality, usability, and durability. Had a quick look at Japanese and Italian brands before deciding. A decade ago, I liked “cute”. In my 40s, my design preferences have changed.

On a recent trip to Japan, I finally bought a new luggage set from FPM (Fabbrica Pelletterie Milano) from the Omotesando flagship store. The size is similar to my current luggage.

Chose this because I wanted something sturdy, and the design reminds me of an old trunk with a modern twist. Picked moss green, something different from the usual, for easier recognition at the baggage carousels.

It is a lifetime warranty, and there are repair centres around the world, at least accessible to where I live and travel.【BANK SPINNER 76】チェックイン at ¥385,000 税込, tax included. Around 2430 USD.

Picking this is purely based on the design. I will be struggling if I have to carry down the steps in Tokyo bullet train stations…

Fully aware of the repercussions of my choice.

I still love the Japanese brand, Ace. They do have a premium range (¥209,000/USD1,300). I was considering between this and FPM.

Anyway, hope you find your trusty luggage. I still recommend Japanese brands for their durability. They do have repair centres outside of Japan, mainly in Asia.
